LONDON (AA) – England’s Premier League stands out as the competition with the highest number of own goals this season among Europe’s top 10 football leagues.

Across Europe’s major competitions—including the “big five” leagues in England, Spain, Italy, Germany and France, as well as the top divisions in Portugal, the Netherlands, Belgium, Türkiye and Czechia—own goal statistics have drawn attention during the 2025/26 season.
The Premier League, which tops UEFA rankings, has seen 35 own goals scored by 32 players so far this season, placing it clearly ahead of the rest.
Among the players, Wolverhampton’s Colombian defender Yerson Mosquera, Nottingham Forest’s Murillo, and Burnley’s French centre-back Maxime Esteve have each scored two own goals.
Türkiye records 21 own goals
In Türkiye’s Süper Lig, 20 players have scored a total of 21 own goals so far this season.
Among the clubs, Fatih Karagümrük (4 own goals) and Kayserispor (3) have recorded the highest numbers.
Among the “big four” clubs, players from Fenerbahçe, Beşiktaş and Trabzonspor have each scored one own goal this season.
Other European leagues
In France’s Ligue 1, 21 own goals have been recorded this season.
Spain’s LaLiga, Portugal’s Liga Portugal and the Netherlands’ Eredivisie have each seen 20 own goals, while Germany’s Bundesliga and Belgium’s Pro League have recorded 19 each.
Italy’s Serie A has seen 18 own goals, and Czechia’s Chance Liga has recorded 16.
